Rental Protection Policy

Last updated: May 14, 2026

1. Overview

Rental Protection is an optional add-on available at checkout that provides coverage for minor, repairable damage that may occur during your rental period. It is designed to reduce a Renter's financial responsibility for eligible damage.

Rental Protection is not insurance and does not replace the Renter's responsibility to return items in good condition.

2. What's Covered

Rental Protection applies to small, accidental damages that can be reasonably repaired, including:

  • Minor stains
  • Small rips or tears
  • Missing sequins, beads, or buttons
  • Minor hardware issues (e.g., zippers, clasps, fastenings)

Coverage is limited to damage that does not affect the overall functionality or wearability of the item.

3. How It Works

If an issue occurs:

  • The Renter must notify the Lender promptly through the Platform
  • The Lender will notify the Platform
  • The Platform will assess the damage based on photos, descriptions, and repair feasibility

4. What's Not Covered

Rental Protection does not apply to:

  • Damage that renders the item irreparable or unusable
  • Loss of the item for any reason, including theft or failure to return
  • Excessive damage beyond minor, repairable wear
  • Damage resulting from misuse, negligence, or failure to follow provided care instructions

5. Renter Responsibility & Charges

If an item is returned with non-covered damage, deemed irreparable, or not returned, the Renter authorizes the Platform to charge up to the replacement value of the item.

Replacement value is defined as the lesser of:

  • The original retail price, or
  • The current cost to replace the item with the same or similar item, taking into account age and condition

6. Determination of Damage

Damage assessments will be made by the Platform acting reasonably and in good faith, based on available evidence including photographs, item condition reports, and repair estimates where applicable.

7. Disputes

If the Renter disagrees with a damage assessment or charge, they may contact the Platform within 7 days of receiving notice of the charge to request a review.

Upon receiving a dispute:

  • The Platform will reassess the claim based on available evidence, including photos, communications, and any supporting documentation provided by the Renter
  • The Renter may be asked to submit additional information to support their claim
  • The Platform will make a determination acting reasonably and in good faith and will communicate the outcome to the Renter
